Iredell County, NC (September 25, 2020) – Police and rescue crews responded to the scene of a serious accident in Iredell County on Thursday, September 24th. The crash took place on Sandy Springs Road at the intersection on Turkeyfoot Road.
According to a report from the scene, at least one person sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. At this time, it is not clear how the accident took place and no information regarding the details of the crash has been released. A medical helicopter from Wake Forest Baptist Health Care landed at the scene and airlifted the injured victim to the hospital. Prior to the helicopter arriving, rescue crews worked to extricate the victim from a vehicle.
The road was closed in the area due to the heavy presence of emergency vehicles at the scene. Motorists were advised to use caution and were told to find alternate routes for their travel.
An investigation into the accident remains ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
