Charlotte, NC (November 19, 2020) – Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the scene of a crash involving five cars on Brookshire Boulevard. The crash took place on Wednesday, November 18th just before 10:00 p.m., near the intersection with Interstate 85.
According to officers, 27-year-old Marcus Alonzo Harris was driving a Toyota Camry when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on his vehicle due to outstanding arrest warrants. Harris fled from police and ran a red light while turning onto I-85, causing a collision between his vehicle and a Mitsubishi Gallant. Both cars were pushed into the path of a Chevrolet Cruze, causing an additional crash. The Toyota caught fire following the collision.
Four passengers in the Mitsubishi were hurt, including a 3-year-old girl. She was taken to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. The driver of the Chevrolet suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident. There is no word on whether anyone else was hurt.
