North Carolina Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian accidents in North Carolina occur multiple times each day. Sadly, pedestrian crashes are far more likely to result in death or serious injuries when compared with other types of traffic collisions. In 2019, more than 200 people were killed in North Carolina pedestrian accidents, and thousands more sustained injuries. Many of these victims were killed when they were involved in crashes with negligent motorists. It only takes a split-second for a bad decision by a driver to turn into an accident that has catastrophic consequences.
There are many causes of pedestrian accidents, including speeding, reckless driving, distracted driving, failing to yield, and impairment. When a pedestrian crash takes place, investigators must carefully examine the circumstances surrounding the accident in order to determine who should be held responsible. In many cases, the pedestrian is an innocent victim and is hurt by someone else’s negligence. In such cases, the victim’s family could have valuable legal rights.
