Lenoir, NC (December 2, 2020) – Two people were hurt in a car accident that took place in Lenoir on Tuesday, December 1st. The crash was reported around 9:00 p.m. on Creekway Drive near Poplar Street.
According to police, 33-year-old Luis Alonso Rodriguez Cardenas of Lenoir was driving a Toyota RAV4 southbound on Creekway. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree before catching fire. Both Cardenas and his passenger, 30-year-old Yessnia Hernandez Lopez, were able to escape the vehicle before it caught fire. Cardenas was airlifted to Atrium Health in Charlotte and Lopez was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem. Both were listed in stable condition as of Wednesday.
Police are still investigating the accident at this time. There are no additional details are available.
