Beaufort County, NC (December 17, 2020) – A 33-year-old man died after being struck while changing a tire in Beauford County. The accident happened on Tuesday, December 17th around 2:30 a.m. on Dan Taylor Road.
Police say that 33-year-old Philip Barbour was driving a vehicle on Dan Taylor Road when one of his tires became disabled. Barbour parked his vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway and exited the car to change the tire. While he was on the shoulder, he was struck by a passing vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene after the crash and before police could arrive.
Barbour suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The truck, which is described by witnesses as a dark Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck, was last seen traveling southbound on Corsica Road.
