Raleigh, NC (December 19, 2020) – A man from Pineville suffered injuries in a car accident that happened in Raleigh on Wednesday, December 16th. The crash was reported around 1:52 p.m. on State Road 2224 near State Road 2049.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene just after the accident took place. According to a crash report, Matthew James Covial, of Raleigh, was driving a 2006 Honda eastbound on SR 2224 when he collided with a 2017 Toyota driven by Shavond Ray Hillard. Both vehicles suffered heavy damage, with damage estimates of approximately $15,000.00. There is no word on exactly how the crash took place at this time.
Hillard suffered injuries in the accident and was transported Wake County EMS units to Wake Med Hospital North for treatment. There is no update on his current condition at this time. Covial was not transported. No additional injuries were reported.
Troopers are still investigating the crash at this time. No further details have been released.
