Pedestrian Accidents in North Carolina
The number of fatal pedestrian crashes in North Carolina rose by nearly 3% in 2019 when compared with the prior year. For the past several years, statistics show an increase in the number of both injuries and deaths involving pedestrians on our roadways. When a pedestrian becomes the victim of an accident, the outcome is likely to be negative. This is because pedestrians have little protection from the force and impact of a crash. Many North Carolina pedestrian accidents take place suddenly and without any warning, leaving the pedestrian in a very vulnerable position. Drivers who are impaired, distracted, or otherwise driving recklessly can greatly increase the risk for pedestrians in the area.
Given the seriousness of these crashes, it is easy to feel overwhelmed if you or a loved one have been affected by a pedestrian accident in our state. You could be facing an ever-growing stack of medical bills or a prolonged recovery period that has affected your ability to work and earn a living. You may also be struggling with some of the mental aspects that are common after a traumatic experience. Regardless of your condition, there is help available in many cases. If the crash was not your fault, you may be entitled to compensation under North Carolina’s personal injury law.
