Fatal Car Accidents in North Carolina
There is nothing more devastating and heartbreaking for a family than a fatal car accident. The sudden loss of a loved one is extremely tragic, especially when they are taken in a traffic accident that was not their fault. Fatal accidents take place, on average, about three times per day in North Carolina. A fatal North Carolina car accident can occur for many reasons, including driver distraction, reckless driving, speeding, and more. Each accident must be carefully investigated by authorities in order to determine who should be held responsible for the crash.
After a car accident in North Carolina, victims often wonder what legal rights they might have. Fortunately, there is help available during this difficult time. If you or your loved one were not at fault for the accident, you could be entitled to recovery for your damages. This includes payment for your pain and suffering, lost wages, medical expenses, punitive damages, and potentially more. In cases involving a fatal accident, this number can be significant and family members should consider filing a wrongful death action against the other driver. A North Carolina wrongful death claim can be complicated, however, and should only be filed by a lawyer who has experience handling these issues.
