Brunswick County, NC (January 19, 2021) – A hit-and-run pedestrian accident was reported in Brunswick County on Friday, January 15th. The crash happened just before midnight on U.S. Highway 17 near North Carolina Highway 211.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash shortly after it took place. According to a report from troopers, an SUV struck two pedestrians who were walking near the roadway. The SUV then fled the scene after the crash. Rescue workers rushed to the scene to provide assistance to the pedestrians. One of the pedestrians died in the crash while the other sustained serious injuries.
Troopers are still looking for the vehicle involved in the accident at this time. The car will have damage to its front-ed and is missing a left-side mirror. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SHP’s Wilmington office.
