Winston-Salem, NC (January 19, 2021) – A Winston-Salem man was hurt after being hit while riding his motorcycle on Saturday, January 16th. The accident took place around 5:15 p.m. in the 5000 block of University Parkway.
Members of the Winston-Salem Police Department, along with rescue workers, responded to the scene of the accident. According to police, a 2014 Chevrolet passenger car was traveling on University when the driver tried to make a left turn into the Walmart parking lot. The driver of the Chevrolet failed to yield to a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle that was traveling in the opposite direction, causing the two vehicles to collide with one another.
The motorcyclist was identified as a 50-year-old man from Winston-Salem. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. The Chevrolet driver was not hurt. Police later charged the driver with an unsafe movement violation.
