Johnston County, NC (January 31, 2021) – A driver was taken to the hospital following a crash between two trucks in Johnston County on Saturday, January 30th. The crash took place in the westbound lanes of Highway 70, near the line with Wake County.
According to rescue officials, a driver was traveling west in a pickup truck when he attempted to make a turn into a private driveway. Another pickup truck, also traveling westbound, collided with the truck that was turning. The first truck was pushed into a ditch where it flipped over before coming to rest. The second truck drove over the first truck and came to rest on top of the overturned vehicle.
Rescue workers transported the driver of the first truck to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The crash resulted in the westbound lanes of Highway 70 being closed for about three hours while crews worked at the scene. There is no information on whether charges are expected to be filed in connection with the accident.
