Granville County, NC (February 7, 2021) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating after a fatal hit-and-run took place in Granville County. The incident happened before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 6th.
According to troopers, a truck driver traveling northbound on I-85 discovered a victim lying on the side of the roadway. The truck driver notified troopers who responded to the scene, along with rescue crews. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the victim was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. At this time, officials are searching for a GMC that is believed to have damage to its front and center. There is no information on the model or color of the vehicle.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time. No additional information is available.
