Fatal Crashes in North Carolina
Deadly crashes occur each day on North Carolina’s roadways. While many serious and fatal accidents involve cars and other more traditional passenger vehicles, crashes involving mopeds, motorcycles, and dirt bikes also make up a substantial percentage of deadly accidents that take place in our state. These vehicles offer little protection against the force and protection of a collision. Motorists are often thrown from their bikes following a crash which can also result in injuries.
A deadly accident in North Carolina is certainly a life-changing event for family members. Those who are left behind are suddenly forced to pick up the pieces and move forward following a sudden tragedy. After a fatal accident, family members should consult with an experienced attorney in order to determine their legal rights and protections.
In some cases, a North Carolina wrongful death claim can be filed against the other driver. This is appropriate when the other motorist’s actions led to your loved one’s death. Under our wrongful death law, family members can recover certain types of damages, including funeral and medical expenses, loss of consortium, and more. While no amount of money can bring back your loved one, your settlement can help with unexpected expenses and can assist you in achieving justice when you have suffered an unnecessary loss.
