Duplin County, NC (February 11, 2021) – Police have identified the woman who was killed in a crash that happened on Wednesday in Duplin County. The crash took place at approximately 4:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 117 near Interstate 40.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to a report from troopers, 40-year-old Amanda Greene was driving a vehicle on U.S. 117 when she collided with a tractor-trailer that was experiencing mechanical problems. The tractor-trailer was traveling in the slow lane when the crash took place. Greene died at the crash scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt in the crash and has not been identified at this time. Motorists were advised to avoid the accident scene and to find alternate routes of travel if possible.
There have been no charges filed although an investigation is ongoing. No additional details have been released.
