Durham, NC (February 12, 2021) – A man from Creedmor was hurt in a pedestrian crash that took place in Durham on February 7th. The crash occurred around 6:20 p.m. on U.S. Highway 70 near State Road 1815.
Trooper NJ Neal with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to a report from Trooper Neal, Hector Velez, of Durham, was driving a 2019 Ford westbound along U.S. 70 when a pedestrian entered the roadway. The pedestrian, who was later identified as Jonathan Edgar West, was struck by Velez’s vehicle. West suffered injuries as a result of the crash. The Durham County EMS arrived and transported West to Duke University Hospital. There is no word on his condition or the nature of his injuries at this time. Velez was not injured in the accident.
Troopers are still investigating the crash. There is no further information available.
