Car Accidents in North Carolina
In 2019, there 276,549 crashes involving passenger cars reported across our state. From this number, 81,764 people suffered some type of injury. These statistics amount to approximately 700 crashes and 200 injury accidents each and every day. It is easy to take for granted the dangers of getting into a vehicle. While most people develop a false sense of security, it is important to remember that a crash can happen at any time. Drivers should therefore always drive defensively and take the appropriate precautions in order to lower their risk of being involved in a collision.
While there are steps that can be taken to reduce your risks, not all North Carolina car accidents are avoidable. In most cases, a negligent driver is responsible for the crash. These are drivers who operate their vehicles while violating some type of traffic law or who otherwise drive in a reckless manner. Speeding, impaired driving, reckless driving, and distraction are among the most common types of negligent driving behavior. If you have been injured by the actions of a negligent driver, you could have legal recourse under North Carolina law.
