Wilmington, NC (March 20, 2021) – A woman from Wilmington was taken to the hospital following a three-car accident on Tuesday, March 16th. The crash happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Carolina Beach Road at the intersection with George Anderson Drive.
The Wilmington Police Department responded to the accident scene shortly after the incident took place. According to Officer E.G. Lippert of the WPD, Nicholas Bryant Morrison was driving a 2015 Toyota northbound on Carolina Beach Road when he came to a stoplight at the intersection with George Anderson Drive. Morrison failed to stop at the red light and collided with a 2016 Honda driven by Heather Dawn Whaley. Following the impact, Whaley’s vehicle spun around and struck a third car driven by Anna Koerner of Grafton, MA.
The New Hanover EMS arrived at the scene. Whaley was taken to Cape Fear Memorial Hospital for treatment of head and shoulder injuries. There were no additional injuries reported. Following an investigation, Morrison was charged for failing to stop at a red light.
