Greensboro, NC (March 30, 2021) – A motorcyclist from Greensboro was killed in a crash that took place on Monday, March 29th. The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on East Market Street.
According to the Greensboro Police Department, 46-year-old Franklin George Poole, Jr. was driving a 2001 Yamaha XVS1100 westbound on East Market Street. At the same time, 46-year-old Allen Reginald Dawkins, also of Greensboro, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on East Market. Police say that Dawkins tried to make a left turn onto North English Street. As he made the turn, he failed to yield to Poole’s motorcycle, causing a collision between the two vehicles.
Poole was rushed to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. Dawkins was not hurt in the crash. Following the accident, Dawkins was arrested by police and charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicles and failing to yield the right-of-way.
