Johnston County, NC (April 3, 2021) – A man is dead and a baby suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident in Johnston County. The crash took place on Friday afternoon around 1:15 p.m. on Highway 42 East near Thanksgiving Fire Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to a report from troopers, a 23-year-old man was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Thanksgiving Fire Road. At the same time, a dump truck was traveling eastbound on N.C. 42. As the Camry driver attempted to turn onto N.C. 42, it collided with the dump truck. The truck struck the driver’s side of the Camry. The 23-year-old died at the accident scene. A baby who was occupying the Camry at the time of the accident was rushed to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The dump truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not identified anyone involved in the crash at this time. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
