High Point, NC (April 10, 2021) – Police in High Point responded to the scene of a motorcycle crash in High Point on Thursday afternoon. The crash happened around 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Westchester Drive and Stone Place.
According to Lt. Matt Truitt of the High Point Police Department, a 24-year-old man from Salisbury was riding a motorcycle southbound on Westchester Drive. At the same time, a minivan was traveling northbound on Westchester. The driver of the minivan attempted to make a left turn onto Westchester Drive. The driver, however, failed to see the motorcycle. The motorcyclist swerved but was unable to avoid the crash. The rider was thrown from his bike after impact. He was taken to a local hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening leg injury. The driver of the van was not hurt in the accident.
Following a crash investigation, the driver of the van was issued a citation for failure to yield causing serious injury. The identity of the victim was not released.
