Motorcycle Accidents in North Carolina
Motorcycle crashes in North Carolina are not as common as other types of accidents involving passenger vehicles. However, this certainly does not mean that they are less dangerous. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, there were 3,516 motorcycle accidents in North Carolina in 2019. A total of 2,728 people were injured in these accidents and 184 people were killed. The rates of serious injuries and fatalities are far higher for motorcycle accidents when compared to car crashes. While about one-third of car accidents will result in injuries, nearly 80% of motorcycle crashes will cause injuries to one or more victims. Motorcycles offer little protection in the event of an accident.
If you or a loved one have been injured in a North Carolina motorcycle accident, you may have important and valuable legal rights. In many motorcycle accidents, the crash is caused by a negligent driver and the motorcyclist is not at fault. In these cases, the motorcyclist can seek to recover damages for their injuries, including payment of lost wages, medical bills, pain and suffering, and more. Depending on the severity of your injuries, the compensation that you could obtain could be substantial. It is important to have a skilled and experienced attorney on your side who can help to ensure that you receive the settlement that you deserve.
