Lexington, NC (April 20, 2021) – Two people were killed following a wrong-way crash in Lexington on Monday, April 19th. The collision happened on U.S. Highway 52.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to troopers, 76-year-old Jerry Lynn Thomas, and 75-year-old Brenda Wallace Thomas were in a vehicle that was traveling northbound on N.C. Highway 52. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling southbound on N.C. 52 when the driver crossed the centerline of the roadway and collided head-on with the vehicle driven by the Thomas’s. Jerry and Brenda Thomas, both of Winston-Salem, died at the accident scene. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. That driver has not been identified at this time.
An investigation remains ongoing. Charges are pending against the wrong-way driver.
