Injury Crashes in North Carolina
The number of reported traffic accidents in North Carolina continues to rise each year. In 2014, there were approximately 220,000 reported accidents across our state. Five years later, by 2019, that number had increased by more than 60,000 with approximately 287,000 reported collisions. The number of North Carolina car accidents is expected to continue rising into the future as our roadways become busier and the state’s population continues to grow. Unfortunately, the volume of negligent drivers on the roadway will likely increase as well, thus placing everyone at more risk each time they get into a vehicle. Drivers who choose to drive under the influence pose possibly the greatest danger to all other motorists.
Under our state’s law, you could be entitled to compensation if you were involved in a car accident that was not your fault. This is especially true if the other driver was engaged in clearly reckless behavior, such as driving while impaired. Drivers who disregard our traffic and safety laws should be held accountable to the fullest extent possible. Under no circumstances should you be responsible for the careless actions of someone else.
