Perquimans County, NC (May 9, 2021) – Two people were taken to a local hospital after a car accident in Perquimans County on Thursday, May 6th. The collision was reported around 8:45 p.m. on Ocean Highway South at the intersection with North Carolina Highway 37.
Police and rescue workers responded to the scene just after the crash took place. According to reports, a log truck and a four-door car collided with one another at the intersection. Oce occupant had to be extracted from the vehicle following the collision. Both occupants of the car were taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. One of the victims was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center and the other was taken to Vidant Chowan Hospital by ambulance. Their identities have not been released at this time. There is no word on the reason for the crash or whether any charges are expected to be filed.
The southbound lanes of the roadway were temporarily closed while rescue workers were at the scene. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating at this time. There is no further information available.
