Guilford County, NC (May 26, 2021) – An SUV driver is dead following a crash with a moped that took place on Tuesday night in Guilford County. The crash took place just before midnight on North Carolina Highway 62 near Monnett Road and Pleasant Garden.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Andrew Thomas Wyrick was driving an SUV when he collided with a moped. Following the collision, Wyrick overcorrected his vehicle before veering off the road and crashing into a tree. Wyrick was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The drier of the moped was ejected from his bike following the crash. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The rider was not immediately identified.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing at this time. There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed.
