Pedestrian Accidents in North Carolina
Pedestrian accidents in North Carolina take place each day and multiple times per day. These accidents have a high rate of injury and death. In fact, about 12% of all reported pedestrian crashes resulted in death in 2019. A much greater percentage of pedestrians were hurt when they were struck by vehicles. Many pedestrians are put in a difficult spot and a crash may be unavoidable due to the actions of a negligent driver. When a pedestrian crash does occur, the results are often, unfortunately, catastrophic.
Being involved in a North Carolina pedestrian accident is a life-changing and devastating event for both the victim and their family. Although the crash itself can be tragic, you could have important and valuable legal rights in the aftermath of the collision. Under North Carolina law, a personal injury action can be sustained against a driver who was responsible for the collision. This means that you could be entitled to recover compensation, including pain and suffering, lost wages, payment of medical bills, and potentially more following the crash. Only an experienced attorney, however, can truly advise you regarding your claim.
