Lumberton, NC (June 24, 2021) – Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a crash involving an RV on Interstate 95 in Lumberton on Thursday afternoon. The crash happened near mile marker 25.
According to Trooper D.B. Strickland of the Highway Patrol, the RV was pulling a car in the southbound lanes of the highway when a tire blew out causing the driver to lose control. The RV struck a bridge and a support pillar before coming to rest. An ambulance arrived at the scene and transported two people from the RV to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. The identities of the victims have not been released but they are from Florida.
Traffic near the scene was backed up for about four hours while police investigated and cleared the area. No additional details have been released.
