Fayetteville, NC (July 3, 2021) – Officials in Fayetteville responded to the scene of a car accident that left one person dead on Friday afternoon. The crash took place in the 4700 block of Blanton Road at approximately 1:45 p.m.
According to police, 20-year-old Devontay Crumpler was driving a Chrysler 300 sedan on Blanton when he lost control of his vehicle. The Chrysler left the roadway and crashed into a tree before coming to rest. One person was killed at the accident scene. A 17-year-old passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The cause of the collision is not known at this time. Rescue workers were forced to cut the car in half in order to extricate a passenger.
An investigation is underway at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer J. Smith of the Fayetteville Police Department or Crimestoppers. No additional details are available.
