Fatal Car Accidents in North Carolina
Since 2016, there have been approximately 1,400 traffic fatalities on North Carolina’s streets and highways each year. This number equates to about four fatal crashes every day. A North Carolina car accident can be devastating for both victims as well as their family members. Unfortunately, serious injuries and fatalities happen on our streets and highways each day and often affect the lives of innocent drivers and their families. If you or a loved one have been involved in a fatal North Carolina car accident, you should speak with an attorney regarding your rights as soon as possible.
Under our state law, a negligent driver is responsible for all of the injuries and damages they cause as a result of their actions. In the case of fatal accidents, a victim’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the driver. Under North Carolina’s wrongful death statutes, this claim must be filed within two years after the date of death. These claims are very complicated and should only be handled by an attorney with a history of receiving a successful outcome in these types of cases.
Attorney Jason M. Burton has the experience and knowledge that are necessary to handle a North Carolina wrongful death claim. The law surrounding these claims is very specific and requires a complete understanding in order to present a successful case.
