Hertford County, NC (July 15, 2021) – An 18-year-old from Ahoskie died in a crash that took place on Tuesday, July 13th. The accident happened just after 11:00 p.m. on Newsome Grove Road in Hertford County.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the collision. According to troopers, Edward Dunn V was driving a Volvo SUV westbound on Newsome Grove when his car left the roadway while coming out of a curve. The vehicle struck a culvert and went airborne before colliding with a tree and coming to rest. The vehicle then rolled over. There were four occupants in the SUV at the time of the incident. All of the occupants were ejected after the crash. Dunn was pronounced dead at the scene while three others were taken to a hospital for treatment. There is no word on their identities at this time.
Police believe that speed and alcohol played a role in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
