Deadly Accident in Clayton
According to statistics compiled by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, nearly 1,500 people are killed annually in crashes that take place on North Carolina’s roadways. Many car accidents occur because one driver was irresponsible or reckless and their reckless actions lead to negative consequences. Under our state’s law, drivers are required to remain at the scene of an injury crash until the police arrive. Many people choose to ignore this law, however, and flee the scene anyway. These drivers often do so knowing that they are responsible for a serious accident. Normally, this is an effort to avoid taking legal responsibility for their actions.
A hit-and-run accident presents a legally complicated scenario. If the other driver is never found, the injured motorist must look to their own insurance policy for recovery. In many cases, this can be done. With the help of an experienced attorney, you do not have to come up empty-handed following a car accident in Clayton.
