Siler City, NC (October 11, 2021) – One person is dead and three others are hurt following a crash at a Siler City drive-in restaurant. The accident took place on Friday, October 8th at Johnson’s Drive-In, located at 1520 East Eleventh Street.
Investigators say that a car was traveling westbound on East Eleventh when the driver crossed the double yellow line and struck another car that was turning left onto East Raleigh Street. The first vehicle continued moving and exited the road to the left. The car then proceeded into the drive-in parking lot and hit four pedestrians. The pedestrians were waiting for their food to be prepared when they were struck.
A 64-year-old man died after being hit by the car while a 77-year-old woman was airlifted to a local hospital where she was listed in serious condition. A 39-year-old woman and an 18-year-old boy were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. None of the crash victims have been identified.
Following an investigation, police arrested 60-year-old John Salvatore Graviano in connection with the crash. Graviano was issued several charges, including misdemeanor death by vehicle, failure to reduced speed to avoid an accident, and driving left of center. Graviano was taken to jail where he was held on a $1,000 secured bond.
The drive-in was closed due to the accident and currently remains closed. No further information has been released. We wish to offer our most sincere condolences to the victim’s family following this fatal crash in Siler City.
