Fatal Accidents in North Carolina
A car accident in North Carolina can be a very devastating experience for families. In some cases, you may experience injuries or even the death of a loved one. When a tragedy hits so close to home, you are left feeling hurt and confused. In 2019, more than 3,000 people were killed in accidents on North Carolina’s roadways and nearly 90,000 people suffered injuries of some description. Speeding, reckless driving, and distraction are among the common causes of some of the most serious crashes that we see on our roadways.
A North Carolina car accident can certainly be a heartbreaking experience. If your loved one was killed in the accident and the crash was not their fault, you should speak with an attorney concerning your legal rights. In certain cases, family members are allowed to file a claim on behalf of their deceased family member. These are known as wrongful death claims and must normally be filed within two years of the date of death. Family members can receive compensation from these cases in order to help them offset some of the unexpected expenses that they are facing during this difficult time.
