Durham, NC (January 19, 2022) – Officials in Durham responded to a deadly crash on Tuesday, January 18th. The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Interstate 85 near East Club Boulevard.
The Durham Police Department and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene. According to police, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway near mile marker 179. When officials arrived, they pronounced one person dead at the scene. All northbound lanes of the road were closed while police conducted an investigation. At this time, it is unclear if anyone else was hurt in the collision. The deceased victim has not been identified and there is no word on what caused the accident. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel if possible.
