Fatal Accidents in North Carolina
There is nothing more devastating or heartbreaking than the loss of a loved one in a car accident in North Carolina. In 2019, nearly 1,500 people lost their lives in traffic accidents throughout our state. While the state does not maintain statistics on the number of people killed in hit-and-run collisions, the number is significant. Drivers are legally required to remain at a crash scene but many of them choose not to do so. The reason for fleeing is normally an indication that the driver is hoping to avoid facing legal liability for their negligent driving.
A hit-and-run accident in North Carolina presents complicated legal issues. In some cases, the driver may not have any insurance or may not ever be located. In these instances, it is vital to have a skilled and experienced attorney who can locate all available insurance policies from which you can obtain compensation. There may be one or more additional policies that will cover your injuries. Your lawyer can work with you to find all potential sources of recovery in order to ensure that you are not left financially responsible for the actions of another motorist.
