Asheboro, NC (March 21, 2022) – An Asheboro man was killed in a head-on crash that took place on Sunday, March 20th. The accident happened around 8:00 p.m. on McDowell Road near the intersection with Cardinal Street.
According to a report from police, 47-year-old Ricky Allen Bullard-Holdaway, of High Point, was traveling westbound on McDowell. At the same time, a 55-year-old woman from Asheboro was traveling eastbound on McDowell in a 2013 Toyota Tacoma. Bullard-Holdaway crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the Tacoma.
A front-seat passenger in the Tacoma, 35-year-old Gustavo Simental Rodriguez, died as a result of the accident. Bullard-Holloway and the Asheboro woman were both seriously hurt. There is no further update on their conditions at this time.
Following an investigation, police determined that Bullard-Holdaway was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. He was arrested and later charged with several violations, including driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, and aggravated felony death by motor vehicle.
