Raleigh, NC (April 15, 2022) – Police in Raleigh are investigating after a deadly hit-and-run on Thursday, April 14th. The crash happened around 7:00 a.m. on I-540 near exit 56-B for US Highway 1.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol arrived at the scene shortly after the collision occurred. When troopers got to the area, they located the body of a deceased 35-year-old man. The man was later identified as Billy Jose McNeil, of Fayetteville. McNeil had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene of the accident. The road was closed for nearly two hours while the accident was investigated. Police later located a vehicle and a person of interest in connection with the crash. There is no description of the suspect at this time.
The incident remains under investigation. No additional information has been released.
