High Point, NC (August 23, 2022) – A 72-year-old man was killed in a High Point pedestrian crash on Sunday, August 21st. The accident occurred just after 9:00 p.m. on South University Parkway at the intersection with East Green Drive.
The High Point Police Department was called to the accident scene. According to a report from authorities, 72-year-old Sanders Lee Henderson was walking on South University when he was hit by a 2012 Dodge Durango that was traveling northbound on University. Henderson sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. Police did not immediately identify the driver of the Durango but did say that they remained at the scene.
Neither speed nor impairment is believed to have played a role in the accident. An investigation remains ongoing. At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver.
