Mount Olive, NC (September 16th, 2022) – A student at the University of Mount Olive was killed in a single-car crash on Friday morning, September 16th. The accident took place on Cricket Ridge Road.
According to a report from the scene, Peyton Lee, a senior at the University, was killed in the collision. A junior, identified as James Noah Johnson, was airlifted from the scene and taken to Vidant Memorial Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Two other female students suffered minor injuries and were treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital before being released.
Police have not provided any details on the events that led up to the accident or the cause of the collision. Motorists were asked to avoid the area or to find alternate routes of travel while police were at the scene. No further details are available.
