High Point, NC (September 20, 2022) – A 21-year-old woman from Lexington was killed in a two-vehicle accident in High Point on Saturday, September 17th. The accident took place just after 2:00 p.m. on Business 85 at US Highway 29.
The High Point Police Department responded to the scene of the crash. According to officers, 26-year-old Joshua Nicholas Anderson, of Archdale, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado on Highway 85 near Baker Road. At the same time, 21-year-old Sunshine Nichole Williams was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion on the same road. Police say that Anderson ran off the road but then overcorrected and drove through the median where he struck Williams’ vehicle head-on. The Scion came to a stop in the outside lane of the roadway.
Williams sustained critical injuries and died at the crash scene. A passenger in the Scion was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word on what caused the Silverado to leave the road at this time. Charges are pending the outcome of an investigation.
No further information is available at this time.
We would like to offer our thoughts and condolences to the family of Sunshine Williams following this fatal car accident in High Point.
Fatal Car Accidents in High Point
Serious car accidents occur each day across North Carolina. Major interstates such as Interstate 85 are regularly the site of major crashes involving multiple vehicles. With higher traffic volumes and faster speed limits, interstates play a major part in some of the most serious accidents that we see in our state on a daily basis. Even a split-second of bad decision-making can result in multiple car accidents on the interstate.
If you or a loved one have been affected by a North Carolina car accident, you should have full knowledge of your legal rights. Many accidents are not the injured victim’s fault and are instead caused by negligent drivers who operate their vehicles in a careless manner leading to injuries for innocent motorists and pedestrians. In these situations, the injured victim has a right to recover the damages sustained in the crash. This recovery includes pain and suffering, payment of medical bills, lost wages, and possibly more depending on the severity of the crash.
