The St. Stephens Fire Department was the first to respond to the scene. According to Fire Chief Shawn Greene, the female pedestrian was walking on Rifle Range Road when she was hit by a truck. The woman became trapped underneath the truck following the collision and had to be removed by rescue workers. She was then transported to a local hospital via ambulance. Her injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. No further details are available at this time.
