Injury Crashes in North Carolina
The North Carolina Department of Transportation reports that there were 276,549 car accidents in North Carolina in 2019. Of this number, there was a total of 877 fatalities in crashes that involved passenger vehicles and 81,674 reported injuries. The number of accidents and reported injuries was slightly higher than the previous year, following a slowly increasing pattern in the crash data over the past several years. These numbers translate to hundreds of crashes and injuries on our roadways each day. Many of these injuries will be serious and require victims to undergo costly and extensive medical treatment, forcing them to miss work and the activities that they enjoyed prior to the crash.
When you have been injured in a North Carolina car accident, you are likely experiencing a mix of emotions, from frustration to anger, to anxiety and uncertainty about the future. These feelings are normal following a serious crash. However, it is important to understand that you could have valuable legal rights against the driver who caused your accident. Under North Carolina law, crash victims can recover for damages they suffered as a result of the crash, including pain and suffering, medical bills, and lost wages. The law can place you in the same position that you were in before you were injured due to someone else’s negligence.
