Asheville, NC (July 10, 2020) – An 87-year-old woman was killed in a car accident that happened in Asheville on Thursday, July 9th on Meadow Road.
The accident occurred when 18-year-old Dionate Whitson was driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra northbound on Meadow Road and crossed the centerline–colliding with a 2007 Toyota Rav4. The Rav4 driver was identified as Leroy Murray, 87. Murray’s passenger, Jo Gillis Murray, was seriously hurt in the crash. She was taken to Mission Hospital where she later died. There is no word on whether anyone else was hurt in the accident.
An investigation is ongoing at this time. There is no word on whether charges are expected.
