Fatal Car Accidents in North Carolina
Car accidents in North Carolina are reported numerous times on a daily basis. While not all accidents involve serious injury, many of them do. The cause of each accident must be carefully investigated by authorities in order to determine who should be held responsible. Unfortunately, accidents do claim the lives of innocent victims hundreds of times per year throughout our state. These crashes leave family members devastated and in search of answers as they attempt to move forward with their lives. There is certainly nothing more devastating than the loss of a loved one in a crash.
Under North Carolina law, a family member who has lost their loved one in a crash may be entitled to bring a claim for compensation. Our state statute allows for two years to file a wrongful death claim. These claims seek recovery for a variety of damages, including lost wages, funeral and medical expenses, loss of companionship, and possibly more. There is no price that can be put on your family member’s life, however, the compensation that you receive can assist you with the unexpected expenses that you are suddenly facing.
