Carteret County, NC (June 16, 2021) – A 63-year-0ld man is dead following a pedestrian crash in Carteret County on Saturday morning, June 12th. The incident took place around 3:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 70 near Newport.
Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to reports, the pedestrian was walking eastbound when he was hit by a Dodge truck. The pedestrian, who was not identified, died at the crash scene. The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation. Police have not provided any details on the crash or the events that led up to it. There is no word at this time on whether any charges are expected. No additional information is available at this time.
