Catawba County, NC (February 17, 2021) – Two people are dead following a collision that took place in Catawba County on Wednesday, February 17th. The accident happened around 11:50 a.m. on Riverbend Road near the intersection with Oxford School Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to a report from officials, a 2010 Ford Mustang was traveling westbound when the driver went around a curve and crossed over the centerline into the eastbound lanes. While in the eastbound lanes, the Mustang struck a 2007 Toyota Camry head-on. The driver of the Mustang, 53-year-old Bradley Joseph Koepnick, and the Camry Driver, 19-year-old Carolien Elizabeth Ervin, both died in the accident. There were no other individuals involved in the crash and no additional injuries were reported.
The road remained closed for about three hours while officials investigated at the scene.
