Charlotte, NC (August 1, 2020) – A man was seriously hurt after being hit by a semi-truck on Friday in east Charlotte. The crash was first reported around 2:15 p.m. in the 6400 block of Albemarle Road.
According to reports from the scene, a pedestrian was walking along Albemarle Road when he was hit by a semi-truck. The pedestrian was dragged underneath the truck for several feet before it came to rest. Several witnesses saw the crash occur and shouted for the truck to stop before they called 911. Rescue workers arrived on the scene and rushed the man to a nearby hospital. He is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. The man’s identity has not been released at this time and there is no further update on his condition.
Albemarle Road was closed near the intersection with Farm Pond Lane for several hours while investigators worked at the scene. Motorists were urged to find alternate routes of travel. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. There is no additional information available.
