Pedestrian Accidents in North Carolina
Pedestrians are among the most vulnerable crash victims on our roadways. A pedestrian who is struck by a vehicle has no protection from the force of a collision. It is no surprise, then, that North Carolina pedestrian accidents often result in severe injuries and even death in the worst-case scenario. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, our state experienced 2,435 pedestrian accidents in 2018 with 2,210 reported injuries and 225 fatalities. These numbers illustrate the very high risk of death or serious injury for pedestrians who are involved in an accident.
If you have been injured in a pedestrian accident in North Carolina, you could have legal rights. Many pedestrian accidents take place due to the actions of negligent drivers. This includes drivers who are speeding, impaired, distracted, or otherwise driving in a careless manner that leads to a collision. Each pedestrian accident must be closely investigated by authorities in order to determine how the crash took place and who should be held responsible.
