Charlotte, NC - UPDATE: Christopher Duckett Identified in Monroe Road Crash

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the scene in the 4300 block of Monroe Road. According to reports, Christopher Duckett was crossing Monroe Road. As he walked into the roadway, Duckett was hit by a 2012 Chrysler 300 driven by Javier Argueta. Duckett was thrown into the roadway following the collision. He suffered critical injuries was unresponsive when rescue crews arrived.

An ambulance transported Duckett to Atrium Health where he later succumbed to his injuries. Neither speed nor impairment played a role in the crash and have been ruled out at this time. There were no other injuries reported as a result of the collision. Monroe Road was closed for traffic in both directions while police investigated the crash and cleared the roadway. Motorists were urged to find alternate routes of travel as the street was temporarily blocked.

There is no word on whether charges are expected. No further details have been released.
