Clayton, NC (March 1, 2022) – Police in Clayton responded to a crash involving a school bus on Monday, February 28th. The accident took place around 2:30 p.m. on Polenta Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called to the scene. According to a report from troopers, the bus was traveling from Cleveland High School when it overturned for unknown reasons. A total of twelve people, including eleven students, were transported to an area hospital for treatment. None of the victims’ injuries were believed to be life-threatening. There were no other vehicles involved in the collision. Motorists were asked to avoid the area while officials investigated the accident.
Troopers are conducting an investigation at this time. There is no word on whether the bus driver will face any charges.
