Durham, NC (December 10, 2020) – Police in Durham responded to an accident involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 85 Thursday night. The accident took place around 6:00 p.m. near exit 183 at Redwood Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was among the first agencies at the scene. According to a report from troopers, a tractor-trailer was traveling in the northbound lanes of I-85 when the driver slowed due to traffic in front of him. As he slowed the truck, its load shifted forward and crushed the cab, causing the driver to suffer serious injuries. Rescue workers took the unidentified driver to a local hospital.
Crews remained on the scene until approximately 8:15 p.m. investigating the accident and clearing the roadway. Motorists were advised to use caution in the area. There is no further information available at this time.
